Interactive Investor International was founded in 1994 by Sherry
Coutu. It is based in Manchest and also has offices in London and Leeds.
In 1995 Coutu hired Tomas Carruthers to augment its already fund management business by adding a trading capability.
The name was changed to Interactive Investor following the company's withdrawal from the South African and Asian markets.
It
i the largest UK "flat fee" investment platform and has £30 billion of
customer assets under administration with over 1 million clients.
Interactive Investor floated on the UK Stockmarket in the year 2000 with a market capitalisation of £684 million.
In 2016 it acquired the European business of TD Direct Investing (well-known as TD Waterhouse) and in 1917 bought out a rival platform Alliance Trust Savings. The latter being another flat fee investment platform and the deal made the whole group the largest flat fee platform.
Interactive Investor also owns the magazines Moneywise and Money Observer.
Interactive Investor SIPP is the ONLY product you need but they also offer a 'direct to the customer' trading service in:
Interactive Investor, like most SIPP providers, has an excellent advisory service. Use them if you must, but by far the best strategy is to follow the contents of this website and choose your own investments.
The Interactive Investor SIPP mobile app is available for the iPhone and Android devices.
The trading app uses the same quote service as their website therefore prices are, typically, delayed by about 15 minutes. This is fairly standard.
You can add funds to your accout via their app but you cannot, for security reasons, withdraw funds. You have to use their online platform for thatfacility.
Interactive Investor claim to be the most cost effective provider of SIPPs in the UK. That, of course, depends on how you utilise your platform.
They are, however, the largest flat fee provider in the UK.

The Interactive Investor SIPP reckons to be the most cost effective online platform in the UK. They are the largest flat fee provider, so depending how you trade, they may well be the cheapest.
In a survey conducted by an independent body compared Interactive Investor's flat fees against the competitors percentage based fees (depending on the service that was chosen).
The survey used a period of 30 years, a pension amount of £140,000, 7 investment trades per year, a 50:50 split between shares and funds, and a 5% return annually.
Their findings showed that a typical customer could save more than £20,000.
Sounds great. But ... as always do your due diligence before choosing a SIPP provider.
